mousey
When doing the headgasket ona 2.0 zetec, I put timing marks on the cam pulleys, and proceeded to remove the cams etc. when putting them back together, I noticed that I have no idea if the camshaft is timed up as the pulleys arent in a fixed position are they (hard to explain my problem) is there any way to time up the shafts if i didnt put timing marks on them, only the pulleys? Thanks in advance, I really need help with this one.
Stu
Yes.. you loosen the pulleys.. set the crank to TDC.. then put a bar (a file or something will do) across the back of the cams like so.... .. and then set the belt tension and voila.. mousey
so when that file sits flat across the dips at the end, thats how they should be timed?
Carl160180
Yep make sure you have the cutouts on the ends of the cams the right way tho, they can go 2 ways, Pretty obvious as the file/bar won't go in them if they are in the wrong position as the cutouts are'nt central
