sortedford
So I set off last week, and had such a great time!We had a few days at the ring, went out in some cossies, and got a fair few laps in.While we were there I seen the new M3 with a carbon roof (not a CSL). They were out testing it, along with an m5, m6, m6 cab, they were in the car park, but spent most of the time on the F1 track. They were quite happy and invited me to take pics of it.Next day we went down when the track was closed, to be greeted by aload of Mercs, including a Mclaren one, and some awesome black E class with a Carbon spoiler and big vent, some CLK coupes with DTM arches. They stopped the rest of them on the track while a Merc official came to speak to us about having to have a permit to film He gave up when I said it was personal use, and they started coming off the track then, but I don’t think they were too happy about being filmed, I guess some of them were a bit special. Got some nice footage though.Lots of cars in the barriers, it was only closed on 4 occasions, 2 of which seen the air ambulance out, I think it only closes for bikers, as cars were in the barriers on every lap. Had some dick in a M3 behind us nearly loose it on the first corner in the wet, so I slowed so he would pass only to find him a few corners later parked in a barrier. The amount of cars trying to sneak off with damage was quite funny, including a Civic Type R and a M5 estate.Over took quite alot on the track, and got some good times- 12mins in the dry, and 15.16 in the wet, which is quite impressive to me for only having 5 laps (even Emma drove a lap). Seen a Campinion mk4 zetec turbo escort there too, we let him past after the road works, but he couldn’t shake us, we was going to pass until a CSL nearly hit us. Had a chat with the Escort owner afterwards, don’t think he was too impressed that I didn’t have a high powered engine Most importantly of all, we had a great time, and lots of fun on track Proberbly missed aload of stuff, but thats it for now. Pics to follow. Parked up at the ring. Heading out onto track on our first lap. Some of me/ Emma from the ring webcam. Some of my pics to follow later
Trig
Another successful track outing for a Trigspeed fettled motor. Glad you enjoyed it, glad you brought the escort back Edited September 13, 2007 by trig_112
sortedford
Yep, all in 1 piece too The spectators was loving all the Fords, made a change from the all too common 911 & GT3's there. In every Ford we had cheers at the corners. Aslo we met someone when out for a meal who we seen crash on the ring, the price wasn't too bad at 1100 Euros, best bit was it was a brand new Golf, but a rental they were trying to explain that to the insurance company

sortedford
That was the price of that persons recovery Yule and repairs for the armco. I can't remember what its cost off the top of my head (i'm sure i will when the card bill comes through). 1 lap is 19Euros.You saved about 3 Euros a lap if you bought them in 4's.We had 6 nights in hotels (UK, Germany, Brussells, Calis), the ferry crossing, the Eurostar return, food, lots of petrol, spending money for gokarts, souviners etc....I'd guess around 1k So much fun though and hopefully ill be back next year. Stoo did indeed go in his Manta Yule, hes on the seccond webcam shot everyone really enjoyed it
Stu
Yeah, mate of mine trashed his M3. They charged him £3k for repairs and recovery. I don't think his car was insured either. Ouch!
