Hey does anybody know how much better the N95 camera is compared to the N73??

The N73 is a bit slow at taking pictures, but does the N95 have any different software thats any quicker? I mean after you press the button on the N73 if you move it changes the picture, even if it has already "clicked" and looks as though the picture has been taken.

Also is the N95 any faster at loading the camera or just the same as the N73? Which isn't too bad really I guess.

The other thing I was wondering is can you put an 8GB card into the regular N95 now? I know originally it only took 2GB, but a firmware update could of changed that? I ask because on the 02 website they are doing the N95 with a Free 8GB memory card. What would be the point if it can't use it eh?

What are the differences also between the regular and the 8GB N95. I know the 8GB doesn't take memory cards atall and it can access the Nokia music store - but i would NEVER used the Music store.

Also does anybody know what all the differences of the user interface are? I saw a video that looked like the N95 had different media browser/player. Also can it support more formats than the N73?

Or are they essentially the same phone, with the same software, but the N95 has a 5 mpixel and the N73 has a 3mpixel???

Oh the only other difference I remember is the N95 has a regular style headphone socket, where as the N73 does not.

I'm thinking of the N95 as my next upgrade, or the Iphone.

Is it possible to get unlimited data transfer contract for the N95? Like can it be added for a certain cost per month? The Opera browser is probably as good as the Iphones version of Safari I would have thought, but probably just runs a little slower.

I want to be able to access emails etc from my phone, but paying for the data transfer is crazy its like £5 per mb lol.

Also with the N95 can you connect to your network via Wi-Fi to backup files etc?

phone is pretty decent, start up is fast and click-capture is not bad at all, havent tested it by moving but it does seem quick.

N95 8GB has realplayer to play videos and im unsure just how many formats it can play,u can prob download an MPEG player tho???

They're good phones, the iphone may be better but it'll cost a lot more, the N95 is the "best" phone i've ever had in the fact it does soo many things,it may not be the fastest,it may not have the best battery,it may not be the most reliable, but it is the "best" all round

I just found out the 8GB version has doubled the ram to 128mb (as opposed to 64mb of the original N95), also the battery life is supposedly sorted out now.

I know that the N95 can do every single thing the Iphone can do, but I still want a windows mobile based phone so I can write .Net applications for it! lol.

I would get the 8GB N95 but it is exclusive to Vodafone right now aparently, and I don't want to buy an unlocked one for £300 off ebay lol!!

The double RAM is what I mostly interested in, should really really help the phone.

I'd rather get a free phone than pay for one. But would like to get unlimited data transfer on my tariff with O2. Is this available without getting an Iphone?

There is a £7.50 bolt on that you can get on any pay monthly, O2 tariff that will give you unlilimted data (fair usage applies, see terms and conditions, :pancake: )

The iPhone and N95 may do the same things, but my goodness the iPhone does them all much better!! Apart from the camera, I will give it that :P

If you want a windows device O2 do the Orbit and there is a new XDA called ...... ....... Stellar!!

Just not after a PDA lol. Wish they did just more of a pure phone. I.E wish nokia could use windows mobile lol.

I do agree the Iphone is an amazing piece of kit. I used one in the store loads and it is so amazingly responsive. There have been a few phones that have tried touch screen but the Iphone really does it well.

I don't use the camera much on my phone anyway, but the downside to the Iphone camera is there is no flash, no video, and you can't adjust any settings atall. Wish I could get hold of one for say a week or two to try out the email software etc, as I imagine it is very good.

The Iphone camera does load up noticeably quicker than my N73, and even though it is 2 megapixel it still looks as good as my 3.2 megapixel N73. I'd love an Iphone, and I agree it is a better phone than the N95, imo mainly due to the Operating System.

It's just that the Iphone costs £269, but you can get an N95 for free. The Iphone is fairly priced considering an N95 would set you back atleast £300 when it first came out (assuming you didnt get it free on contract).

The main thing I would worry about is whether to novelty of the Iphone would wear off too soon, because if I paid £269 for a phone I would want it to last me a decent amount of time lol.

It's a shame that the Symbian OS isn't going to get much better any time soon :(

EDIT: Just looked at that Stellar on the link you posted. How big is it? I assume you must work for O2 partypiece? lol. Is it big like a traditional PDA? Looks quite small in the picture.

Its not shite, far from it. Download ringtones from iTunes

The N95 8gb only has one major advantage over the first N95 and that's memory, the battery isn't greatly improved and the original N95's battery life is fine if you charge it properly. The memory can be an issue, but again if you use the phone right it doesn't have a problem. The bad things about the 8gb version are no camera lens protector and especially, no memory card slot.

Regarding the iPhone...

From our good buddies at Gizmodo, Here is a list of things the iPhone does not have:

• No Songs as Ringtones

• No Games

• No flash support

• No Instant Messaging

• No Picture messages (MMS)

• No Video recording

• No Voice recognition or voice dialing

• No Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)

• No One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)

Stuff we already knew it didn’t have

• No 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)

• No GPS

• No real keyboard

• No Removable battery

• No Expandable Storage

• No Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)

Depends how much you use your phone. I have a 30GB Ipod, so I don't put songs on my phones.

Also don't bother downloading ring tones or anything like that.

Also never play games on my phone or anything like that. Just need good email and internet access, which I think both phones do??

Just that one of them is free ;)

Regarding the iPhone...

From our good buddies at Gizmodo, Here is a list of things the iPhone does not have:

• No Songs as Ringtones

Download songs for ringtones from iTunes

• No Games

No Games installed, again just download them

• No flash support

Fair play

• No Instant Messaging

It is the best email handset outside a Blackberry

• No Picture messages (MMS)

Again it is the best email handset outside a Blackberry

• No Video recording

Is the video recording on your handset really that useful!? Only the N95 and Viewty boast good and usable video recording

• No Voice recognition or voice dialing

Nope, but I must be in the minority that I never use them then!?

• No Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)

It supports Bluetooth for headsets

• No One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)

£7 for an adaptor! Most iPod headsets fit it without an adaptor

Stuff we already knew it didn’t have

• No 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)

It uses EDGE, faster than 2g and has WiFi

• No GPS

Uses Google maps, there is now a Beta version of Google maps that will use cell site information to identify your position and its free ..... (cough) Nokia

• No real keyboard

Tilt the device on its side and it flips the keyboard to horizontal, it also use sure type to identify accidental touches of the keyboard

• No Removable battery

I have had an iPod for 2 years and my battery is still fine

• No Expandable Storage

Since when has anyone used more than 8GB on their phone? this is till the biggest capacity handset, memory wise, out there.

• No Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)

Not true, you can access iTunes via WiFi but not EDGE. You tube can be accessed via EDGE or WiFi.

I am one of the people who loves the Iphone from what I have used, and the main reason is it runs so much better than ANY symbian smart phone I have used.

I am really tempted to get one, and agree with everything that partypiece has said, a lot of the stuff mentioned I never use anyway (Video recording, voice recognition etc).

Also with the battery I agree, the one in there is most likely going to last a long time going by any RECENT Ipods. Also it has an impressive standby time,

I charge my Nokia most nights and don't have a problem with that. I think the battery life on the N series and Iphone are good enough (N-series based off my N73, and Iphone based off the paper figures).

The only Nokia i've had that was TOTALLY crap on battery life was the 6280 I got about 2 years back, it was terrible. Uses the same battery as the N73, but wouldn't even last from the morning until the end of work sometines. I was stuck with that phone for 9 months lol.

Partypiece, some questions:

1) Can the Iphone be charged by plugging into the PC?

2) Can it be plugged into any Win Xp/Mac OS X computer without drivers or do you need Itunes on there?

3) Do you have access to a list of file formats it supports? Like can it open at MS Office documents? What audio formats does it make.

4) Can you send files via bluetooth to other phones? Like send a picture I took on a night out to mates? - I'd probably leave an Iphone at home on a night out though lol, probably get it nicked!

With regards to the MMS, how many people ever recieve media messages off their friends? Mine must be too cheap to use MMS lol!!

Anyone who buys into the iPhone fad is just an idiot

That's all that needs to be said in regards to the iPhone lol
