Posted December 3, 200717 yr Hey guys, My friend of mine has a Combo which he has recently converted a Cavalier TD engine into.... after travelling to west sussex on Saturday to pick up a Front Mount Intercooler for it, we got into a discussion about the tunability of TD engines. The Vauxhall boys are going through the route of taking a stock 1.7TD Engine from a cavalier, fitting a FM Intercooler, fitting a bleed valve and running 20psi on Standard internals.... apparently this gives a power output of around 115-120bhp and the stock internals are strong enough to run that type of power on a daily basis. So that leads me on to my question - how many pounds of pressure can the 75TD engine run safely? Also, if anyone has tuned this engine then what sort of power outputs have they returned safely without any major engine modifications? RegardsGareth
December 3, 200717 yr Winding the boost up isn't really adviseable. Turbo life can be measured in weeks, not years.
