escortpwr2004 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Hi guys, im new here but not new to ford escorts. Owned em for years and used to go on the FEOC alot and i love escorts to bits, however this one is my mothers and im totally lost with it. The car was bought a few months ago from auction (Cheap) and everything was fine, no problems with it, everything worked perfectly. Now it went in for its MOT the other day and when it went in everything was fine, no problems. Passed first time no faults. Now i jumped in it yesterday and noticed the side lights, dash lights and tail lights were not working. Headlights work fine but still no dash lights or alarm when the door opens with the lights on and the tail lights still dont come on. ive checked all the fuses and relays, everything is fine. Any Ideas?

escortpwr2004 Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 If its the indiacator stalk why would my headlights come on but no tail lights and no dash board lights?
Welshy_Pete Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 If its the indiacator stalk why would my headlights come on but no tail lights and no dash board lights? Had this problem on my car while ago had to change the stalk to solve all these problem in the end
1pukkadeal Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 If its the indiacator stalk why would my headlights come on but no tail lights and no dash board lights? thats exactly what happens as the switch does not make contact to all the connections inside the stalk ,it will be the stalk just look through the past threads in this section as your symptoms are exactly the same as everyones elses who bugger up
killalot Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Mentioned this before to save yourself some money and not having to buy a new stalk get an electrical screwdriver and pop the knob off the end on the switch the side for the lights catch the two springs that fall out and the two silver prongs all you’ve got to do is price open or close the two copper contacts to make a better connection and put back together works perfect Pee easy to do and saved you £10-£15
SaMMy125 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 definately the stalks switch yeap i had the same , was a shite to pull apart and clean but worked after for a bit, got a spare set of stalks for sale if ur need £13 posted
