its all down to personal opinion......... If you like them thats all that matters...

i dont like them because they look cheap,and dont match the car.i used to have a set,but i prefer standard and half smoked more.

 

IT is all down to taste,im an OEM man myself and i like my car to look as tho it could have been made by ford,and half smokeds go with that look

IMHO it's all about fads, fashions and stereotypes. Because they're often fopund on kiddies £200 1.1 bangers, serious modders are keen to distance themselves from that image and associated stereotypicval owner. So, anything found regularly on their cars is to be avoided like it's got herpes.

 

Go back around 2-3 years on Evo, and standard lights were boring while those who could invested in a set of these in one form or another and proud SUYM thrreads with newly-fitted lights were more common than crabs on a hooker.

 

As more folks fitted them they became copied by the "boy-racer" kiddie, mentioned earlier, devaluing them and made them less attractive unless you wanted to be lumped in with the "chavs".

 

There wasn't much else around except afterburners and some started to tint their rear lights as an alternative. Then someone, possibly Tidykart (and several others) hit on the idea of half-tinting them. It looked good, was cheap to do, and many followed suit.

 

Once folks collectively decided half-tints were "in", all else went "out" quicker than the Pope mistaking the local synagogue for the gents!

 

As said earlier, If you like them that's what really matters. Fashions come and go all the time, and unless you are modding your car to please others, it really doesn't matter who likes it!

 

So go proudly on your way with your shiny lights, and ignore the conformists!

LOL...... chrome lexus lights look gay on escorts unless fairly heavily modified, as for the 'every half wit can tint' comment....... i would say it is slightly more advanced than going into your local halfords and asking the monkey behind the counter 'oi m8s, can Is av sum lexus lights or woteva 4 ma escort innit boizzzz safe'

i just dont think they look good. that style of light looks shite even on mazdas.

sorry but imo lexus type chrome rears just make me think "cheap easter eggs"

 

they are not better than the more expensive lights just cos their shinier....plus the cheap smarties allways taste like crap
