4 nuts around the gearstick when you take the trim off, and screws in the flappy bit at the back, or the dish type bit if you've poverty spec

undo the screw in the pocket at the back , pull off the handbrake surround , do the same with the gear surround ...... then , once youve taken off the gear surround , you'll see 4x10mm nuts on a goldish coloured plate around the gear stick , undo them , remove that too ........ and just jingle the console about to get it over the handbrake

Like that,and undo the leccy plugs,and then,loosen the handbrake adjuster and pull the handbrake up so its nigh on vertical,then slide the console back then lift.

 

Thats how its described in the haynes

you lot make it sound hard ,Ians desription was spot on

Gti's had the bowl as standard.

take 1 of your seats out only on 5 {10mm} bolts it helps after you got it past hand braek

When taking out the 4 nuts, use deep set sockets, saves lots of time!
