Posted December 5, 200717 yr Just fixed my alpine CD changer and plugged it in (it was jammed and couldnt eject or play,so i got the mag out manually and binned the damaged CD holder) Now it works fine, works all remaining 5 CD slots and switches between them all fine, but the problem is it plays at normal volume thru front right speaker and very very quietly thru the other 3. The HU CD plays fine, the radio plays fine, but the changer is crap on 3 speakers, and its not the fade/bal settings as theyre central (u can even it out by fading rear and left until it sounds central, but then u need to set volume to max for it to be as loud as it should be just set to 1/3 power) Does the CD changer have its own amp or does it use the HU one, does it send each speakers signal into the HU or does it just send the CD data and the HU split it into stereo sound? I wont be surprised if no-one can help,it baffles me,i need a wiring diagram Its a 9807RB with CHMsomethingorother (they are compatable i bought and used em together in my first car)
December 5, 200717 yr the only thing i can think of is that the cable is fooked going from the changer to the HU.
December 5, 200717 yr Author ill take a look at the pins in the plugs and sockets, and failing that the copper fly lead thing (is that the right word) that goes between the chassis and internals on the changer as that was pulled taught once or twice while i had it in pieces,it looked fine tho
December 6, 200717 yr the changer does not have any amp etc in it scoop ,it will be either a dodgy phono lead connection if your alpine changer uses them or the head unit itself matey,as all discs would sound the same not just 1 or 2 in the changer
December 6, 200717 yr Author it uses a fat ISO lead with about 9 wires inside.Im gonna go take a look at it now,its very confusing Just to clarify EVERY CD played thru the changer is quiet,a CD placed in the main HU is fine
December 6, 200717 yr it uses a fat ISO lead with about 9 wires inside.Im gonna go take a look at it now,its very confusing Just to clarify EVERY CD played thru the changer is quiet,a CD placed in the main HU is fine with you now mate ,try another lead or borrow one to test ,if it still does it the changer is fcucked
December 6, 200717 yr My guess would be the lead - Have a got a changer (CHMS-600 I think) and lead that I was considering getting rid of if you need em mate. Cheers .
December 6, 200717 yr Author Fixed now,no idea what was wrong or how its fixed but i was sat there adjusting fad/bal and all of a sudden it got louder so i centralised it again and it sounds fine, cheers for ur help guys and gals
