Hi guys just wondering if there is a difference with the standard air boxes? My car has an induction kit and want to put the standard box back on. Can i get any air box and put it on or do i have to get one specificly (?) for the GTi? Any help would be great Thanks in advance

I belive the air flow meter's differ in size. So i would check that.

there are 2 different types for escort zetecs. Depending on ur inlet manifold. so get one from a car that has the same inlet as u,more than likely a round the rocker type rather than over the rocker

all airbox bottems are the same except the diesel which is handy as the support legs usally snap off, just a case of measureing you maf and going down the scrap yard and measure.

the airbox end of the MAF is the same between airboxes.(even the 1.4 MAF is just as chunky at the airbox end) Only its placement on the box differs

so it sorted any airbox will fit as long its not off a diesel.

no...because the alloy inleted cars MAFs are in a different position to the plastic inletted cars and hence the shape of the airbox top and the placement of the hole is different

Nope..1.8, 1.6 vary...

 

I have both 115ps 1.8 and a 90ps 1.6 air box (both from post 95 escorts) and the 1.6 air box has a smaller hole for the MAF.

The bottom section is the same on both... and yes... those bloody plastic pegs/legs always break off.

 

It irritating as i swap between a drilled air box (in winter) to a non drilled air box (in summer) depending on ambient air temps, the "non drilled" air box came from a 1.6, so i have to use my air box's top section

Thanks for the help So i will need a box off a GTi / 1.8 engine I can't just go to the scrappy and rip one off any escort they have

I took my induction kit off my gti and fitted one from the same year si with no problem

Just make sure its the later 115ps 1.8 and you'll be fine.
