a decent set of shocks and springs if your not lowering down much should do the job adequately
if your gona use the car ever day then dont get coilovers trust me , a good shock and spring kit will be fine :thumb: and look great with the 18's

because coilovers are for track use where the surface is smooth.......even the softest setting is way too harsh for our roads
I wouldn't say all coilovers are too harsh for our roads, i know some can be but depends what your use to. In personal experience i had -35mm spax springs fitted to my gti on brand new genuine ford dampers, The ride and handling was really good. i would say go down that route really
All off-the-shelf coilovers are shite for road use. But of course if you want to spend the money you could get a set spec'd for road use, if you know what you're asking for (compress/rebound rates, spring rates, etc.). I would spend the time producing a set for the Escort but i'd bet my Nan that noone would front any cash :)

i hear mixed things about coiovers i no the more u pay the better they are but have heard good about the weitec ones am not saying i wouldnt have shocks and springs just dont feel that with 18 i can drop it that much with out it rubbing constantly and i basically want it so sit as in my sig pic nt 2 low but low enough 35 40mm is way to low does any one no if i could drop it 20 25 mm for example

If you want to lower your car that much then it doesn't really matter what suspension kit you buy as the car will handle like toilet. So go with whatever is cheapest I suppose!

I would suspect you want coilovers because its sounds cool ? am I wrong ?

Oh I've got coilovers...

Only reason i've got coilovers is i need the adjustable height lol

Why, are you running tarmac stages one day and forest stages the next?

no im just stuck on what to buy as i no it will comprimise the ride but as i say i want to no wat people say is better
I had weitec coilovers on my mk1 golf running 15s, found them absolutely fine for road use and that was -75mm the golf being nowhere near as comfortable as an escort so surely they would be fine on an escort.
