i know that driving lit a tit, inncorect tyre pressure , exta weight etc all effect fuel consumption but what mechanical things on the 1.8 zetec do- like sensors etc. im only getting around 240 miles ish to a full tank with sensible driving. cheers
Sounds about right.
see Im so glad you said that Stu.........Im lucky to get F'in 200 miles out of mine...... I was embarrassed to admit to it then
It's a very difficult thing to track down because peoples driving styles varies greatly.
On a run in the GTI i used to see 300-320 max, short trips and a heavy foot 240-260 so about right i would say.
in my 1600 i average about 290 to £40 of fuel but thats when it was 98p a litre so approx 40 litres obviously

I get anywhere between 240 and 320 miles out of a tank in mine.

Shawdreamer, I hope that doesnt mean you hate me, I dont know what I would do if someone had 'fuel economy envy'

be happy i get 200 a tank. :nutter:
With my 1.8, i'm getting at least 300 - 350 and alot of that is motorway miles :thumb:
My ford escort 1.6 mk6 does 350 to 360 miles or more on full tank :D

Thats not too bad, make sure your cars well serviced and everythings as it should be, failing that drive steadier and take more time to anticipate whats going to happen to avoid harsh braking / accceleration :)

or get a ford Ka they are the sex
