    Please help

Hi guys , I'm in great need of some advice , Currently in the middle of an rs2000 engine swap into a mk6 escort Engine is in , everything mechanically is sound and fits I'm planning on wiring it up this weekend but I'm struggling to get my head around it (Even with haynes manual) When I brought the engine I got: Engine complete with box Drive shafts Hubs / brakes Subframe And a box full of wiring looms (presumably from the whole car, not had a proper chance to look) ecu and ignition barrel transponder (no barrel or keys) I was told that it was from a mk5 rs But I'm not sure ( the seller I brought off will not reply) I've quoted the ecu numbers etc in another thread people have said it's showing it's come out of a MK6 rs2000 with the dreaded PATS system :/ I don't have the key So now I'm not sure if the engine is out of a mk5 (and they have given me the wrong or a random ecu and loom) or is it out of a mk6 ? Is there anyway I can tell what the engine is out of ? I've been going through the ecu plug loom i have been given for continuity and it's near enough the same to a mk5 pin out according to haynes manual I've also have a separate prepats ecu (1abg) in the garage which I know for sure has come from a mk5 rs from a mate ages ago when he smashed his car round a tree Will this run on a mk6 rs2000 pats loom ? Could I just bridge the pats box on the loom and use the prepats ecu? (Assuming the loom I have got is a match to the pats ecu I was sent and I've not got a load of random stuff all from different cars) Cliffs - what's the difference between mk5 and mk6 rs looms? - if it is a mk6 loom , could I bridge over the PATS and run the non pats ecu? -did the mk6 rs have external or internal edis ? (I've got an edis 4 unit and the plug in connector on the ecu loom that came with engine ) Any help would be appreicated as it's making my head hurt now Thanks
  2. Hi can anybody give me info on this ecu What car is it from ? Does it have PATS? EEC - iv AFAR 95ab-12a650-da Esd-402 *c9wp02ma085y* CAD 4e16 Inmp Thanks
  3. Hi people looking for some advice , I'm in the middle of putting an rs mk5 lump in to a mk6 escort (Build thread coming soon) My question is about the wiring loom , and I can't seem to find a straight answer on here or anywhere on the web , Do I have to change the complete loom? Or can I just change the ecu loom , engine loom and dash loom ? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
  4. Hi guys, I'm fairly new here so apologies if posted in the wrong place In the title really , I'm lucky enough to have a budget of £8000 incl. insurance to spend on a second car. Currently driving 1.6 zetec mk6 escort as daily 24 years old , 2 years ncb, my insurance is pretty low at full comp and other quotes have confirmed this I'm looking for something fun for fast road and track use , and possible a potential investment Been looking at Mk6 fiesta st Mk1 focus rs Various capri's , mk2 fiestas I'd love a mk1 escort but think itd be outside my budget Opinions please on what you would do ? Thanks in advance Edit Reply
  5. Hi, im new here so forgive me if ive posted in the wrong section im looking for some advice, this is long ,but any help would be greatly appreciated -98' s reg mk6 escort 1.6 zetec 60k miles -last week on the way back from work the car stalled ,restarted, but was not firing on cylinder number 2, confirmed this by removing plug lead with no difference. no warning lights. -with just under a mile to go i decided to carry on, car continued for id say 200m then cut out dead again, but this time coughed and spluttered and refused to start, -towed back - when home, car started but this time was only running on 2 cylinders ,stalled after 5-10 seconds -cylinders 2 & 3 had no spark , 4 had strong spark and 1 was quite weak in comparison, i thought this could been caused by the coil pack breaking down being 2&3 are paired on the same 'coil' -checked fuses - no OBD11/EOBD reader fault codes present, could not connect - tested leads and inspected plugs, looked as if its running rich so i think its getting plenty of juice brought 2 coil packs from scrap yard, fitted with no difference on either brought new after market coil pack no difference - checked coil packs for resistance, original dead on tower 2 & 3 checked wiring loom from ecu back to: crank pos. sensor, MAF , coil pack connector , for continuity ,no probs -car started , running on 2 , cut out, - started tracing wires from the ecu in the passenger footwell again just to be sure - ecu was RED hot , too hot to touch, since then car has no spark on any cylinders , could have been getting hot before but never checked could these be symptoms of the coil drivers being burnt out in the ecu , after orignal coilpack failure ? Am i barking up completely the wrong tree? any ideas, help would be highly appreciated
