  1. I still check in every now and again, now living in New Zealand and driving an Amarok, Missus has a Golf GTi which I get to play with sometimes :-)
  2. You can get carpet for the back of the rear seats as well.
  3. Agreed, mamoth effort and well done, if nothing else you have learned a lot. The next one will be awesome
  4. Love it, seems like ages since you started this thread and people doubted your ability. Wonder what they would say now that its all coming together
  5. Been watching this from the start and really enjoying it. You are doing a great job and can't wait to see the finished car :-)
  6. Its passed, just have to take the skirts off and change the footpedals back to rubbers instead of alloy. They maintain that the skirts were never standard equipment and therefore have to come off the car before i get the full certificate. Also had to put the standard airbox back in. Getting more strict every year!
  7. Need a scanned copy of the GTi Brochure please or proof that the car was supplied with skirts. My car has just failed the Spanish MOT test because they say the skirts are not standard equipment as supplied by ford ( which they are ) Any help appreciated as i am going to have to rip them off otherwise. Cheers, Tim.
  8. FWIW stick with the Zetec for now until you get the rest of the car ready to handle the power. It's a fairly light car by modern standards so a Zetec should put a big smile on your face for some time to come until you are ready to go further.
  9. Really enjoying this thread, looking forward to some more updates. Congrats and keep up the quality work.
  10. The Estate´s really nice but quite a major project. Keep your Mk2 if you let it go you will regret it.
  11. Take your time and don´t cut corners. It will be worth it in the end :-)
  12. Looking great, this is my favorite thread on here at the moment :-) I can´t remember from earlier in the thread but is that a 1.8 Zetec? How exactly do you go about mounting it in the Escort? D you have to fab up new mounts or is there a kit? Cheers.
  13. My first car was a Mk 2 1300 GL (Apart from 3 days with a Datsun 120y that we won't mention), I later had 2 E30's a 316 and later a nearly new 320i, loved them all but I would dearly love to have another MK2 and do all the things I dreamed of doing when I was young and Skint :-) I think the Mk 2 is so popular because they were the first car a lot of my generation owned along with Mini's and Fiestas, that and because it is a pretty simple machine to work with and most jobs can be tackled by a home mechanic. Mine was a V Reg when I got it around 1987 (Old for a Mk II) It was 600 pounds which was about the going rate and it swallowed up huge chunks of my wages just keeping it going. Compare that to the sort of car you can get for 600 quid today!
  14. What I meant by OEM plus is to make it totally Ford but better than anything that Ford actually produced. Where can I find out the differences between Black and Silver tops? There is no time frame, I just want to start buying bits and put them away, 750 for a brand new engine seemed reasonable? Ta!
  15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Ford-Zetec-E...=item45fe32cd95 Escort GTi Estate is being mothballed and I want to do everythig possible to make it one of the best OEM plus over a long term project before putting it back on the road. TIA
