jdunn91
Hello, I need to replace the front left driveshaft to my 1.6 4x4 ford escort 1996. Does anyone know if i can use a standard escort driveshaft or perhaps a mk1 mondeo one. I have the mondeo driveshaft to hand but want to know if this is possible or whether il need to order a new one. Thanks!

stuey650
Do you know if its the same gearbox as the rs2000 4x4? I assume it is in which case no, a standard escort driveshaft does not fit, not even a TD drive shaft that also uses the MTX gearbox in 2wd form. I once tried the TD option on my rs2000 and it was a few mm too long. From memory you might be able to machine it down to fit, I managed to source alternative driveshaft from an rs2000 and used that instead. No idea on your Mondeo idea if that would work. jdunn91
I have been told its the same gearbox, I was hoping i wouldnt have to order one but I did some research and I think your right, the best option is to source a rs2000 driveshaft. Thanks for helping me out!
