  1. PMSL it takes less time to swap over the oil pump housing and inlet than to whip the engine out and replace it with the same from a tdi
  2. Why would this be? The engines are virtually the same, minus minor head differences.
  3. Nice job Scott, did you use gas with the welder?
  4. Cheers Got a wee Ibiza as my daily, nothing special just a 1400 but cheap insurance and running costs Cheers Mike very handy to know as getting a shot of a ramp these days can be difficult haha I'm hearing yous are getting rolling road in? Sorely needed up this way What happened to the ST? Yeh, theres already another rolling road just started up your way, so im waiting to see how it goes before i put mine in. But yeh, just getting settled in the workshop just now.
  5. Thanks for your useless input. Not really required tbh
  6. Nice to see something different. What you driving these days scott? If you need to use a ramp, give me a shout, im in the workshop most nights.
  7. Have you got access to a ramp? As the steering rack bolts down from the top, so you need to take the rack down with the subframe then unbolt it. apart from that, its easy enough to do. And yes quite common nowadays
  8. By looking at the fuel gauge when the fault occurs can eliminate whether its down to low fuel. Youd be surprised how many customers do that. Again, with low fuel, it can show up a weak fuel pump. And yes by CAT i mean catalytic converter General rule of thumb is not buy second hand sensors, as you can never tell how worn they are, or even if they are working prop. if youve found corrosion then thats a positive start, but it may not be the one and only cause of the running fault.
  9. From that instructions i couldnt see if it tells you to loosen the camshaft pulleys and only tighten them once the belt is fitted. Very important part of the process
  10. Sounds like a MAF issue, or the CAT is breaking up. Unplug the MAF and see if its any different. If those are ok, keep an eye on the fuel level when the fault occurs, the fuel pump may be on the way out. Carry out all the simple checks like split breather hose etc... The escort is such a basic car electrically, theres no real cause to waste money on a code reader.
  11. Id go for the focus 2.0 zetec. The fiesta is a fun car, but lacks out and out power unless going for an engine change. The St170 is a good car, but ive found it to be lacking in some respect. Its not a quick car by any means, and unless your going to convert to solid fly and 5 speed i wouldnt bother. The 2.0 zetec is the better all rounder, the focus handling is second to none when tweaked even very slightly. The gearbox is strong and the engine will respond to mods.
  12. The mk5 is lighter. The doors for example are lighter, due to increased crash protection as highlighted above
  13. Like the escort in my avatar i have a front and a rear, front has spot lights, im in essex, ss12 9js, can you collect or would you need posted? Superb, could you get pictures please? ideally postage, but i could travel if needs be. Thanks
  14. As title, looking for mk5 rs accessory front bumper, pref without the indicators but would take with if needs be. Can always fill the holes. I realise the chances are slim but its worth a shot :-)
