JadeFalcon
noticed the nearside cv boot on my (M) plate escort 1.6 lx has either split or gone bad chucking out all the grease, have a mechanic coming to help me with that on friday, but i noticed something odd when its up on axel stands. its jacked up both sides so front drive wheels are off the floor so i could rotate wheels to check for cv joint failure, when i turn steering from left to right and vise-versa there is a clicking sound coming from somewhere that i cannot determine, have checked bearings they seem fine no play, also no odd sounds apart from brake pad rubbing when turn the wheels by hand, so i dont really know what could be wrong would be helpful if anybody here could give me some pointers as to what it could be or what other checks i should, as i'm a noob when it comes to mechanics, i can read a haynes but i'm no trained mechanic much thanks in advance

JadeFalcon
checked them they seem to be ok.. but i definetly think its something to do with the suspension as its clicking when i turn wheels (on stands), doesnt do it when car on the ground, do the springs usually rotate when turning the wheels ? springs are solid and in place tried pulling them in diff directions so they not loose or anything i wd40'd the springs but that has not solved it

All I can suggest is that you get someone to move the steering wheel left and right while you stick your head under the arch and listen where the noise is coming from.
