smithyandco
USB-IDE Controller... and a decent external molex power supply (HDDs are power hungry... CD/DVD caddies don't usually provide enough power) Should work for backing up the data

smithyandco
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-USB-2-0-to-IDE-S...id=p3286.c0.m14That would do the trick fine... But then you'd need one of these....http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/External-HDD-Power-S...p3286.m63.l1177 Finding one in the UK is an utter pain in the arse... Better getting a cheap powered IDE HDD caddy... high amp 12/5v power and IDE controller in one... And dirt cheap now as everyone wants SATA caddies! 666
the caddy i pluged the hd in to is the same power as that, so would i need a sepert power supply or can i use this one and just use the usb lead?
sidrick
You can have the hard drive in a PC connected to it's power supply, then just plug the cable into the drive. No need for external power supplies.
