scrapheap
My hand brake warning light keeps comming on while I am driving, (The hand brake is off before you ask). Is this a dodgy sensor on the hand brake or does it have another meaning? (I wish I had the manual for the car as the haynes manual doesn't say) Oh the car is a Mk V Escort (1.8 diesel) in case that makes a difference. Rich
its a brake warning light as well, comes on when there is a problem in the braking system like hoses, pads, discs etc time to open the wallet m8 and take it easy on the brakes
900ss
Could just be low on fluid.
scrapheap
I have just checked the brake fluid level and it was on the minimum, so I think that might have caused it. Or at least it fits in with the symptoms. I have topped it up to Max now and hopefull that will solve the problem. If it doesn't then it is time to check the rest of the brake components. Oh and I tested the brakes afterwards, just to make sure that it still stops after fiddling with the brake fluid, otherwise it might have been at the first junction I came to. John
ADVICE! check out your brake pads / shoes, check the system for leaks etc. in my experiance the brake fluid doesn't get that low just by magic, you've probably got a lot of wear on the pads
