High revs during gear change

I noticed yesterday that on some gear changes, when i pressed the clutch in, the revs would hover around 2500-3000 rpm for several seconds, before dying back down to idle. It doesnt always do it, so i'm thinking it might just be something sticking, causing the revs to stay high for short periods of time.

Any ideas what it could be? Any help welcomed :thumb:

has it only just started doing it or have u only just noticed it doing it?

i know mine does it when u come off the throttle the revs stay high for a second but then die down. we had a lot off ppl coming back when i worked on vauxhalls for the same problem. what it is with most modern cars is that it stays high beause it's actually burning off the fuel that is already in the cylinder thus reducing emitions etc.

i could be wrong and maybe it is something else with your motor but it's just a thought :thumb:

Its done it on and off since i got it just over a year ago. But coming back from the footy yesterday i noticed it, especially at junctions, revving up to just over 3k. Thats the worst its ever been. Previously it wasnt really that noticeable, but when it was hitting 3k rpm it wasa really annoying.

Hello

I have got this exact problem with mine (escort GTI), i have had it on the computer at ford, and they could not find the problem, said it was due to k&n and Zorst, it was plugged into another computer yesterday, and came up with nothing?????, my friends mate , and took it up the road as it will always idle fine when stationary. He is going to speak to one of his mates at anothe ford, and i have to call him at 3.00pm today,
