hi peeps need help got a funny rattle noice coming from under the timing belt cover only happens when cold and stops when engine is warm any ideas

it was only a suggestion, there are quite a few things in that area that could potentially make the noise

timing belt tensioner

water pump

aux belt tensioner

alternator

pas pump

AC compressor

If it is the belt tensioner bearing on the way out then if it fails it will destroy the timing belt and take the engine with it. Is it safe? - no, not really.

 

Track down where noise is coming from by removing the auxiliary drive belt. If you don't know how to check take it to a garage.
