boon147
at the moment i have a MK5 1.4 ghia, and wanted to know, if i drop a new engine in (1.6i or 1.8i) will i need any new additions, like, wiring etc. i am not very technically minded about engines. any feedback would be a great help! Mk6 Si Ross
yeah, you normally need a new wiring loom from the transplant engine and the right extras for that engine, air filter box/alternator etc if they not the same.

John
personally i'd see if they have a complete car u could take away to strip otherwise u could be going back and forward every day things u will probably need are......engine mounts, wiring loom, ECU, gearbox if they have a different ratio, possibly exhaust.............. it's not until u atually get stuck into it that u realise how many stupid little bits u do need so like i say, if u can then try and get the whole car ( i have known some scrap yards to actually just cut the front end of the car off and drop it to you if u speak nicely to the right person )

Rich
dont forget the most important thing, BRAKES you have to be able to stop the car as well and with a engine with more power, you neeed bigger brakes to stop that power
