I need this gone as I just bought a campergvan and have no space to park it as have other rs2000 to

so desperate i may swap for anything that doesnt need insurance to park on a public rd - try me

Ford Escort Mk5 Rs2000 fwd

I bought this car at end of summer as a daily driver whilst my other rs2000 was in for a respray

Mots til October I think - will check docs - have a 1.5 inch think folder of invoices from car dating back over 19 years. Tax runs out end of April 2012

It has never given me any problems apart from when you really put your foot down the clutch will slip before catching but its fine for daily driving - it obviously will need a new clutch at some point. Edit - oh actually when it got really cold in winter it didnt start one mornning so I replaced the spark plugs which were shot and its been fine since - did notice at time it could do with a new coil pack loom or at least tidying up

Previous owners have done some modifications to the car it has:

carbon wrap roof

laguna splitter

Focus st 170 front brakes

grooved rear discs

lowered on gmax suspension (looks great but you will feel all the bumps)

powder coated escos style grey mondeo 16" 5 spoke rims

de egr'd and wrapped manifold (some pipework removed for better airflow)

stealth shelf with 6x9 xplod speakers

some lovely blue chav lights that come on in the boot when you open it

rs2000-16v.co.uk and rs owers club stickers

toad alarm with thatcham cert

I use this car daily but I have low standards so if you think this is a show car stop looking at this listing now, get a £3000 bank loan and look at some tidy rs2000s, think of this as a road legal, reliable rolling project and you are on the right track.

Having said that the engine is fine - the Rs2000 has an I4 16 valve engine which is chain driven so no cambelts to stretch and snap and they run on forever if maintained - if you need help, advice and support keeping the car going or tuning it you will get it from the www.rs2000-16v.com forum of which I have been a member since 2006 at least and is a fantastic source of cheap parts and has saved me fortunes in garage bills with all the technical know how you would ever need.

This RS has a number of issues that dont stop me driving it around Bournemouth but might upset you if you have ocd, some of these are:

bodywork - although the petrol cap and rear arches are almost rust free, the body work has several light marks and nearly 20 years of supermarket dings so would really benefit from a respray at some point. The guy who just sprayed my black one has quoted me 650 to do this so there is an option there if you want it done cheaply. The powerbulge bonnet has a few scratches on it from where I had it stored behind my shed - when I bought this car it had a black carbon wraped bonnet..

underneath - this car has been welded many times before underneath and will doubtless need more welding for next mot

exhaust - it has some sort of stainless system on it but its far too loud at the moment, may need patching up

clutch - as mentioned above if you have a heavy right foot (I dont) this will probably need sorting at some point - it doesnt slip on normal driving or cruising speed onl on heavy acceleration

damp - like all escorts water has got in at some point, it may still be getting in - carpets smell damp and are probably in need of replacement

stereo wiring - it has a crap cd player in it currently wired up to one speaker which means you can at least listen to local radio but it needs sorting out properly

drivers seat - the rs2000 has a recaro interior as standard and its in pretty good shape - maybe a couple of little fag burn holes but generally fine apart from embarrassingly under my ownership the drivers side seat has sunk. This is apparently fixable by welding 2 bars inside back to frame

windscreen seal - has been poorly fitted at some point, loose in top corner

front grille - currently missing I have a spare black one I can provide if you want it.

at least one of the parcel shelf supports is cracked

theres probably plenty of other minor niggles that dont affect me driving it every day but I have covered the ones I know of

These cars are becoming rare now but I have owned several and normally ebay listings for rs2000s say silly things like "only 500 built this is one of only 23 left on the road" which isnt true and I know that even mint ones dont fetch top money BUT they are worthy owners of the Ford "RS" badge and good fun to drive - the handling is great and this car will make a great project for someone, or maybe a base for a track day car or like me maybe you need a cheap runaround and dont fancy getting a Nissan Micra - remember these escorts are hatch backs - great for carrying stuff around (stealth shelf is a pain in the backside if you require constant access)

This car could be broken for parts for more than the price I am asking but I will not sell it to anyone who sounds like they are buying to break - this car will only sell to someone who intends to keep it on the road.

I have been as honest as I can be in this listing, its currently taxed and available for inspection any time in sunny Bournemouth. if you have any questions please contact through ebay or ring me on 07831 764793 any time after 6pm mon-fri or anytime sat sun on 07831 764793

My advice is do not buy this car unless you are a mechanic who can weld or are owed big favours by a mechanic and a welder or have deep pockets. Please bear in mind your missus will probably disown you when you park it on the drive so hide it round the corner for the first few weeks, tell her her hair looks nice everyday and only then try and introduce it into her life but bear in mind you may well still get kicked out and have to sleep in it for a few nights until she feels sorry for you.
