help me to identify these springs /topic description/

1st set.

These are on the car atm. They replaced the 2nd set which will be below this. The pic is long before they were fitted so now i can't take a better picture.

The colors can be seen, but the problem is what are they. I'll explain.

 

I see the rear ones as red/red/red

and the front ones as blue/grey/orange (or orange/grey/blue or grey/orange/blue or blue/orange/grey).

 

The problem is that i bought them from a friend of the owner but he (they) don't know what car are they originaly taken from. Shock caps are with 2 bolts front and rear indicating pre-'95 shell but who knows, because i'm looking at Ford Microcat and

-looking under 90-95

for the front the closest matching is blue/red/grey (if red is orange, but looking at the red on the rear springs i doubt)

for the rear there aren't any red/red/red (not even orange/orange/orange for that matter (see below)

-looking under 95-01

for the front all springs are two-color coded: blue/pink, green/yellow etc. there isn't a 3rd color

for the rear there are only two springs with 3 stripes of the same color: green/green/green and orange/orange/orange - none for red/red/red

 

Stiffness-like, altho the car sits higher they are stiffer than the 2nd set (described below) with which i bought the car.

2nd set.

Bought the Escort with them.

Only the front are marked: blue blue

the rears - couldn't find colors anywhere (pic alongside one of two red rear springs which were in the trunk when i bought the car and dunno what are they)

Imo the springs are very soft, maybe the softest i've ever experienced on any escort, and pretty low compared to the 1st set (collapsed maybe?) In Microcat the front are listed as "with improved attitude/ride height..."

3rd set.

They were originally on my first car and first Escort 1993 mk5b, which i sold 3 years ago with a set of 4 perfect rs2k red springs instead with the original ones /tears

front are coded yellow/yellow/violet (or violet/yellow/yellow)

rears are coded orange/grey/blue (or blue/grey/orange)

No fronts with these colors (even if violet is pink) in Microcat.

No rears with these colors

 

 

So how come i have 3 sets of original ford springs (maybe except the rears of the 2nd set) and none of them is listed in Microcat for any year, model and/or level of equipment.

Even for a BMW (e46) which has a couple of billion combinations of springs i could find which are for what and from what but here is a complete mess.

Little correction to the 3rd set, the front ones are violet / yellow / blue read top to bottom on the pic - was cleaning them and a tiny blue spot show up under the yellow stripe.

 

... which identifies them as:

"spring - front, blue / yellow / violet, (3/4/5 door saloon, 1.8l zetec-e, clx or 3/4/5 door saloon, 1.6l zetec-e, clx or 3/4/5 door saloonm 1.6l zetec-e gl or 3/4/5 door saloon, 1.6l zetec-e, ghia or 3/4/5 door saloon 1.8l zetec-e, ghia) §"

and

"spring - front, blue / yellow / violet, payload 700kg, van kent diesel, §"

and another correction to the 3rd set - if the colors on the rear are actualy blue / grey / brown then they are:

"spring - rear, blue / grey / brown, cabriolet §"

and

"spring - rear, blue / grey / brown, 4/5 door saloon, zetec-e, ghia §"

 

I guess before the xr3 and rs2k this set is the stiffest - fronts with 700kg payload and rears for a tent.

 

OK so the 3rd set is sorted.

Correction to the 1st set, so the fronts are:

"spring - front, blue / orange / grey, (cabriolet, 1.6l zetec-e, automatic or saloon/cabriolet/4 door estate, 1.8l diesel turbo) §"

 

 

 

The main question now is only the rear springs from the 1st set, the ones with 3 red stripes on 3 separate coils - what are they from. The rest isn't relevant anymore
