Mk6 Si Ross
you won't have any problems dropping by 35mm on 17's you don't have to change the shocks at the same time as a lot of people just fit springs, i did springs and shocks though for about 240 quid
muzzy
Should be no problems lowering up to 40mm on 17" on a escort. Depends on if u want just spring or shocks and springs. lowering springs are cheap and make ur ride a bit harsh.shocks are a bit more expensive but lower and better ride Depends, my gmax springs are fine lower 4omm on springsalot of people say ebach are Good springs but some peeps had some probs very ruff lowering spring prices list of top me head: ur looking at 70 quid ish for puma ones about 85 ish for pi ones100 ishgmxa a bit moreup to 120 ish for ebach and h&r more than 120 not sure

Mk6 Si Ross
yes!!! 17's i seem to remember are gonna loose you about 7% of power at the wheels cos of the rolling radius
Ex-Finesse
I may be getting some 17s soon {about time} and i also want to lower it by 30 to 35 mm, will there be a problem? As muzzy said, no problem doing this, although I think T9BY G has lowered 60mm on 17s without arch work! As far as I can remember, PI and H&R lower by 35mm and Eibach by 30mm. I'd recommend Eibach, I have them on my car and can't fault them in any way. I only get the smallest amount of body roll when pushing it in a corner, due to their progressive design. I got mine from ESP, about £125 but turned up within a few days! Cost me £110 to fit, taking an hour for the springs (air tools ) and then a bit to redo the tracking as this had been thrown out. Car was only off the road for hour and a half! Keep us up to date with what you choose
muzzy
Might get a bit of scrubbige on 17" with a 60mm drop. The lower u go, the quicker ur shocks will wear out, cause of the extra bit of load on ya shocks and the lower u go on springs the harder the ride will be as well If u go for a 60mm drop id be tempeted to .get springs and shocks
escort si
im thinking of going lower 40mm. What springs would yous recommend? On 17's this is. Still to get the 17's tho!
Mk6 Si Ross
think Jamex do 40mm drop, don't know how good they are though
Ex-Finesse
I was chatting to the guy who did my lowering springs and he said one mk6 escort he lowered was 60mm on standard shocks! He said he didnt need spring compressors to get them back on!! IMO, 40mm really is the lowest you should go on standard shocks. Might get a bit of scrubbige on 17" with a 60mm drop Mines 30mm and it scrubs on the liners on the full lock Think it could be that the wheels are 7.5' wide, not 7' like most 17's, so the tyres stick out a touch further. simonh1
Mine is dropped 65mm and it scrapes like hell, got to get the rear arches rolled ASAP........Oh and I didn't need spring compressors either........

SPAX! got them on mine and certianly can't complian, not all that expensive either, not sure what list price is on them but they are under 100 quid thats for sure. yes!!! 17's i seem to remember are gonna loose you about 7% of power at the wheels cos of the rolling radius don't forget the complete fcuk up they make of your speedo calibiration if my mates laguna is reading correctly (it's on standard sized rims and only 8 months old so there isn't a whole lot of wear on anything) then the 17s have thrown my speedo out by around 8 - 10mph by the time it got around to a daft speed on a private road officer
