Aggresor Escort
I have pair of 12 inch rockford fosgate subwoofers in a home built box but unlike other installs ive heard my subs make hardly any base and from outside the car the sound is very bad. People have said to me that my sub box maybe to small and that i need more air movement is this true? and does anybody have any suggestions? Ex-Finesse
The subs should have instruction manuals which will tell you the size of the box they need. It should be between volume X and X, and try and go for the smaller value because it gives more bass
Lisa
When I was looking at boxes I went onto the website of the manufacturer of the speakers and they had shapes and dimensions of the most suitable boxes.........maybe there is a similar thing for yours what other stereo gear you got? Matt Escort RS2k
box has to be an exact size for the subs for them to work properly WRONG!!! The manufactures box sizes are a rough guide to get and even sound for all types of music. The box should be be built to suit your music tastes. I.e My Infinity Perfect 12.1 are running in a 0.5 ported encolsure but infiniy recomend a 1.0 sealed. Why is my box so small... simple I like fast music mainly trance and house hence I want punchy bass not low rumbly bass. also that caraudio site is crap, try www.talkaudio.co.uk much better. Matt Escort RS2k
Also in ragards to your sub box, go on talkaudio.co.uk try and find out what the cu/f of your homemade box is, chances are if you just slapped some wood together then its going to be very wrong. If you box is a good size for you music and it still sounds shallow then either a) your subs are crossed over to highb) you box has airleaks or is not sealed propperlyc) You box is vibrating - usally caused by using to thin mdfd) Your amps don't have enough power to get the subs going.
