Guys,

Looks like I'm gonna be needin a new gearbox. Can anyone tell me what kind of gearbox I need (1.3 '96) coz is keep hearing about mtx75 and I don't have a clue!! Also, anyone have an idea of the cost?

Almost all mk6 base models are fitted with the iB5 gearbox. The MTX75 box is fitted to the more powerful models. :thumb:

actually as its an early mk6 its probably a B5 instead of an IB5, dunno if there is a difference but ford said there are two types ?(

Cheers guys. This looks like it's gonna be expensive...

you can get a recon IB5 supplied and fitted for around £260 from companies in autotrader etc. :thumb:

Sorry to get at ya mate but its its another common escort misconception, there no such thing as the B5 gearbox, Its called the BC gearbox, even Haynes made the mistake! :thumb:

did burton power, specialised engines and even ford make the same mistake then?

the BC gearbox was never fitted to the mk6 ;) :)
