Matthew_J
Hey guys, lent my car to the mrs yesterday and she brought it back and there is a strange hissing noise coming from behind the steering wheel, see what happens when you let a woman drive, any ideas what it is? Ex-Finesse
All the time? When you turn the steering wheel? Does it get louder (or stop) when the car is moving?
Matthew_J
Only when I turn the wheel. Cnt be a turbo problem cos i ain't got 1 and dnt think its a puncture have checked all the wheels.
simonh1
Sounds like power steering fluid....check the level.
Ex-Finesse
If it's while the car is stationary, then it's the power steering pump. they will make a noise while the car is not rolling because it's very difficult to turn the tyres! Does it still do it when you're driving normally? Chill my friend, it's just you being paranoid, I think!
