Rev counter

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this:

 

I think my rev counter's knackered, as if I get the car up to about 4k revs (only out of gear of course, I'd never dream of going over 70... ), the needle starts jumping all over the show - between about 4.5k and 1.5k revs. The engine carries on running fine, it's just the rev counter, but it's a bit disconcerting still.

 

I'm guessing it's a loose connection - the question is, how easy is it to fix, and would a simpleton like me be able to do it myself?

on mine its the edis module causeing the problem coz i tried 1 off another escort and it started to work fine

but it feckin annoying

Hmmm, EDIS, eh?

 

Where might I find one of these under my bonnet (simpleton, remember!)?

 

Also, what kinda price would I be looking at for a replacement do you think?

not sure if its in the same place on a mk6 think its in the ecu , if its not it is on the right hand side of behind the washer bottle

 

u can get a second hand 1 for £10 or so
