The original Motorcraft plugs are sufficient, you won't gain anything worthwhile by using "high-performance" plugs. Don't be fooled by the advertising hype you read on Splitfire plugs' adverts Just don't use nitrous with platinum plugs...... As for mods, there's very little you can do without spending much money. Even if you spunk thousands, the only real gains are those with forced induction. 2L conversion would set you back around £1400 for a decent engine, and labour, and allowing £500 for a unichip That'll be the most effective £/bhp gain.
