Escort boy
Ive just taken my car in to ask about a vibrating noise which happens when revs sink down to about 3k revs and its coming from the exhaust i think. I took it into the garage and they said they think the cat converter had broken up inside and bits and pieces had moved down into the centre section. so basically they said i need to get a new cat £160-180 plus fitting and a centre box £55 plus fitting. so like £220 or so in total. what do you think i should do? leave it or get it sorted? its quite a lot of cash to stop a vibration or is it quite serious? Muzz
I would get it sorted, it will fail its MOT on a fucked Cat so you will have to replace it at some point anyway.
Timmy C
Get a powerflow system with a decat.
Escort boy
yeah my mot is in august, would i be able to wait and save up some cash before i do it so it wont hammer my bank balance or is it quite urgent. what about a de-cat?? and full system would that be a better option? Escort boy
what sort of price are we looking at for the powerflow thing anyway? is there a chance i could get one off ebay from someone or something?
Timmy C
If your into modifiying then yes. Get it done at powerlow and you get a long gaurentee and it sounds better. problem is you wont pass an MOT with a decat so you will have to get a cat from a scrappy to put on when you take it to be MOTd

Escort boy
This place said they can do a full service for £110 and i said the acceleration was lagging a bit and they said that it might be possible to adjust the clutch without replacing it on my model. Muzz
The lag in acceleration will be caused by the knackered cat.

Muzz
Yeah it means the clutch is knackered. Is it actually at the top or is he saying that to make you buy a new clutch? If it is right at the top i cant see how you would get away with adjusting it but if he says he can do it, bargain .
