GTi with Running Problems :-(

Girly Racer

Hi All,

For the past 2 months my Escort GTi has been running funny. It started on the way back from Santa Pod when it was struggling to do a decent speed up hill and then started to jerk and loose speed. Took it to the garage and they serviced it (cuase the guy before me used to do it himself thought better safe then sorry) and they said its all fine but it could be running funny cuase it had a K& N filter on it. I put the original air box on it and it ran fine until two weeks ago, started to jerk again and when i came to a stop then tried to pull away again it was still jerking and struggling to pick up speed. It also revs high occasionally.

It didnt do it for a week but i took it back to the garage and they plugged it in to there computer and couldnt find anything. They suggested it could be an Injector and to take it to Ford's if it done it again as they have better computers. Well it did whilst i was on the moteway saturday night and it struggled to get up to 70. I took it in to Fords today for them to look at it...........

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Its a P reg recently serviced with no other mods.......

Cheers

Lizzie ;)

Jesus you're a nice bunch!!

I was in Ibiza at the time! LOL!

Well... as for the GTi, it could well be a knackered catalytic converter. This does cause a big drop in performance, as it blocks the exhaust.

If you, or someone you know is fairly handy with tools, get them to take the cat section off and see if it rattles inside.

What did Fords say about it?

Ralph.
