Reprogramming PATs using the red master key

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and thought I'd just say 'Hi' as I've just stumbled across my first problem with the car.

I have just purchased an Escort mk6 Si; The only problem I have found so far is that drivers side door lock is worn. I have just brought a complete new lockset to replace the worn out ones, this includes 2 door locks, 1 boot lock, igition barrell with red master key and 2 black keys with the red chips.

I hope to fit this lot this weekend, the only problem is my car has the internal PATs built into the ECU.

Is it possible to reprogram the PATs immobiliser system using the my new red master key or is it a job for the Ford Dealers to carry out?

Thanks in advance

Will

ok this is how you program new keys,

put the red key in and turn to position 2, wait till red light goes out(below clock)

take red key out and wait till light goes out

when the light goes out put your new key in and turn to position 2

light should flash and your key should be programed

this is how you program keys, your red key wont work in the new barrel so you will either have to take the chip out the old red key and put it in the new key or try holding the red key as close to the barrel as possible

Are the new keys genuine ford ones?
