DogSmoke
I think I'll be able to take one on in about a week's time. Had my eye on one on eBay but it appears to have gone. What's out there? Nothing too expensive, I don't have a big budget. May also depend on whether my 325 sells. Just want to see what's about. Cheers, Jay

DogSmoke
Here u go mate: Turbo`d Mk6 Way out of my bidget. TBH I will probably have to take a mk5 that's had the treatment, and if that is the case then so be it. I love Escorts, but I wish Ford had made a Turbo'd mk5 from factory

DogSmoke
If your after a Mk5 Turbo im selling mine mate You're a long long way away mate! I prefer the looks of a mk6 so if I were to build one then it would be a 6, but the thing is, the only stuff I have ever done is shocks, brakes, servicing etc. so I don't know if I have what it takes to do an engine conversion tbh. I would need management, the engine, a turbo, intercooler, loom, and god knows whatever else! Would I need to get engine mounts made up? I wouldn't wanna change a gearbox only having a jack and stands for getting the car raised up, and I have an MTX75 in the shed so I know I couldn't lift one in when laying on my back with 1 foot clearance to work with! Maybe I'll end up with no choice though.... If I were to buiold one myself, would prefer a Zetec Turbo but they cost a fortune! (Well they do to me!) MikeyRS
Would I need to get engine mounts made up? The engine mounts on mine are not custom, cant mind whether they are FRST or the previous 1.6si ones that came on the car. Either way they do the job! although if you were to run serious BHP id recommend uprated mounts.

MikeyRS
Ah right well that's cool. What would I need to get my hands on then to convert a mk6? You will need : Preferably fiesta RS turbo engine (cause its EFi), Gearbox ~ you can use the FRST, or MTX75. the later is the safer option. if you run the FRST gearbox it is advisable to fit an LSD, the one from an S2 can fit without too much trouble. Ecu + Loom ~ you have a choice of OFAC / or / OFAB ~ again the later is the better option. although you can run stand alone management if your going for big power. You can run a standard escort cosworth fuel pump, as this is an uprated item for the fiesta. Engine mounts, driveshafts, intercooler etc You can also run an S2 rs turbo engine, but for this conversion, its better to go for the EFi Fiesta item. You might want to consider : uprating the engine mounts when fitting the engine : fitting an LSD : fitting a front mounted intercooler : this will safe you time and money in the long run, and also aids engine life! Hope this helps
Trig
a zetec turbo isnt going to be cheap at all, I was looking at doing it, properly with c20let pistons and rs foucus manifolds, but cutting corners slightly and using the FRST management, and all in all that would cost over 3K and thats without getting proper brake discs and pads for my V6/cossie brakes which would have been another couple of hundred, and then the uprated engine mounts, and then the full polybushed suspension setup to make sure it handled properly. If you want a zetec turbo then it WILL cost you lots of money, and you say stu's car is out of your price range, and that is a car that has been done properly after being thorolughy researched, it doesnt look like you are going to get a zetec turbo at all

RST it will be. Just prefer more modern Twin Cam engines, that's all. I was just wondering about the Zetec Turbo kit that's for sale on here that's all. Seems a cheap way to do it.
