Dan87 Posted July 10, 2008 Share Posted July 10, 2008 A thread started on Passionford about cancer and how it affects people has escalated into us all wanting to do something, i came up with an idea and had a very good response, basically its as follows: I’m going to arrange a convoy through the illuminations in Blackpool for charity, every car pays a minimum of £5 or more if they wish to do so. I’m going to contact my uncle who runs a local graphics company and get him to make up stickers which are going to say "Illuminations Convoy For Cancer" (if anyone has any ideas they are more than welcome to add as this whole thing is going to take a lot of organising) We need to arrange a date for this, i was going to suggest the top gear switch on but its the 29th august which unfortunately is a friday, and also coming up fast so i'm thinking more towards september/october areas (again ideas welcome) We need to discuss which charity/charities we are going to donate the money to so i can contact the charity/charities and get official labels and guarantees so that the public know we are genuine and not just messing about for profit, aswell as this i believe that charities send you money pots for the money to go into so if everything looks legit we have more chance of raising more money. Are there any members on the forum that are or know anybody that works at a car magazine place because coverage of this would be quite helpful aswell as advertising to get more people on board. I'm going to contact the local Blackpool paper aswell to see if they are interested in this too. I'm going to go to the main police station and clear it with them once we have a date, done this before and last time managed to get a police escort so hopefully they'll help again. Dan87 Posted July 11, 2008 Author Share Posted July 11, 2008 CruiseBlackpool (now fyldeperformancecars.com) usually do a Illuminations Cruise for charity every year. sorry dan but your wrong mate, cruiseblackpools illuminations cruise was never for charity, it was just a yearly cruise that leon and aj used to organise, then Dave and Tim took over, renamed the site, organised the illuminations meet last year, never showed up, and i ended up runnin it to stop them lookin like twats, this charity convoy i am doing has got nothing and will have nothing to do with cruising or fylde performance cars, i have invited them but they are having no say in how its going to work. cheers, Dan. Dan87 Posted July 11, 2008 Author Share Posted July 11, 2008 no there was never any money exchanged or asked for, aj used to make a dvd of the convoy that people could buy for a fiver but that went to the running of cb never to charity. hmmm saturday 13th spetember, could be a possibility, you reckon people would want to come down and stay on the saturday night? suppose it wud be a good excuse for a Pee up lol.
