Nova-dose + dry stone wall

This happened about 3 years ago now.

Me and a mate were off to watch a night rally in Buxton, Derbyshire. We took a wrong turn and ended up about 8 miles away in some country lanes, hills etc. We stopped phoned his home and found out where to head, turned around and started to drive back to our destination.

It started to snow lightly causing it to form like sleet, wet, slippy stuff on the road, also there was fog. So visibility was rather poor we were on a national speed limit road but were going about 70mph  when all of a sudden we saw a sharp deviation sign post too late. The car locked up and the turning of the wheels did not matter as the road conditions just made it slip along the ground. We went off onto the grass and actually hit the sharp deviation sign (as you can see in the second picture) I think this saved us to be honest.

We bounced off the sign and smashed through the dry stone wall .... the other side of this wall was about an 8ft drop into trees

We had no phone signal so had to kip the night in the car and be woken by a police officer in the morning, luckily we got my mate's mum's friend to come give us a tow back.

It had snapped the axle pretty much ... the front wheel was actually pushed so far back it was not drivable. So to sort this we lifted the car on the wheels (in the pic) inspected the damage and used 3 tow ropes and the bigger car to pull the wheel out of the body.

To be honest I think that sharp deviation sign saved our lifes! and we were wearing 4 point harness' which were tight too.

1) It was not me driving

2) We were literally in the middle of no where in the middle of the Peak District

3) The time was about 11pm too

I have not "bigged" up the situation or anything like that so to be honest I do not expect a roasting as others have had e.g. ghost riding f**k up.

As I said I wasn't showing off his driving etc just merely showing the "shunt"

Anyway ... It was his intention to put it into rallying he had been taking his course etc it had been stripped out, harness', map light for navigator, foot block and a few bits of the engine had been uprated.

Ur mate is a stupid cnut and to be frank what did he expect,as u only endangered ur own lives then i commend u for that. IS the car just a chavved up P.O.S or does/did it actually partake in legal rallies?

I think they realised that when they walked away from it.

You'd probably be up my way then, 8 miles between Buxton and Stoke is where I live. These are some good roads roond here my son! ooo arrr.

Thanks Sutty, obviously it was realised after ...the car was a write off and only 3rd party, and as I said I honestly believe that hitting the sign so slighlty saved us.

We were closer to Stockport to be honest near some quarries can't remember the name of them though.

No worries mate i cant stand it when people slate others for accidents. People that can walk away from a bad crash realise what could have happened etc had it been worse.

Near stockport eh? Other side of buxton then, not my neck of the woods.. Still, some of these roads are really bad if you're not used to them, especially in bad conditions.
