exhaust heat wrapping

having never done it before ive got a few questions, is it worth doing the full system i.e manifold to the back box, has a fair bit of heat comes into the car would it be affective? also can you wrap cats up i know the run mad heat will it damage them?

I wouldn't wrap anything at all. Wrapping the cat is definately game over for it.

i love it when a plan falls to pieces, i know they is no performance gain from it that was the easy way to sort it i may just wrap about 2 foot to see if the works.

from what ive read (on the back on the packet) the heat wrap keeps the heat in and that keep up the velocity of the air so it flows faster. i heat wrapped mine and it made no difference, by that i mean it was still hot as fook under the botton. i think you need to do at least 2 layers for any difference in underbonnet temps

yeh you can heat wrap the exhaust system, not to sure you heat wrapping the cat tho, there is a product called zircotek i think it is which is a heat wrap, but is sprayed on, but what this does is reduce under bonnet temperatures, ideal for the induction kits, because it lowers temps, a engine runs better on colder air temps, but you wouldnt really notice a performance gain

heat wrap does not add performace, it saps it. when you heat wrap the manifold the heat gets hotter which in turn heats up the incoming charge. i just wanted to know if its okay to lower the cabin temp.

Is it missing some original heat shields or anything Nick? I'm not sure if they came with them or not.

all the heat shields are in place as i looked today when i fitted the brace. its a common thing to get heat in the cabin if the gear boots have split. mine arnt and on the miata forum no one has addressed it cause it does no harm.
