Phill
I had a similar question, I'm planning to get 17s and I'd hoped to lower it 35mm, but I'm only running a 1.4 mk6 and all the 35mm springs I see are advertised as for higher models. The only springs I've found for 1.4s have been 40mm. Does it really make a difference what engine is in the car?
Phill
Shite, Evv, I just noticed you have the exact same model as me. Never met anyone else with a Freedom. Bonzer.

ANT
i think 40mm is the safest with 17s, however T9BY G just put 60mm with his 17s and had no probs
Phill
Worcestershire represent! Isn't a 40mm drop pushing it a bit if you're only changing springs? I heard 35mm was the limit if you're keeping the original shocks.
Crumpy
I lowered mine 40mm on standard shocks with 17's. Wish I had gone 60mm now. I think 40mm is safe though
Crumpy
Sorry, just to add it was my old 1.6 Mk6, not my RS. my RS is lowered around 30mm on 17s but its lower than a 1.6 standard. Get coilovers and then you wont have to worry then
