eetaylog Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Dependant what you have plugged in to your SATA ports allready yes itd be fine (if theres a spare SATA port, im gussing there wont be if you have 2 SATA drives allready) if not you can buy a card with SATA ports on But I assume in the even there isn't a spare SATA port, I could just replace my old hard drive with the new one? yes and no, if your old hard drive was an IDE type and you still want to use the old IDE ribbon cable then youll need an IDE>SATA adapter as per sortedford ^^, but i think data transfer speeds will be slower doing it this way. As said above, you can either use one of your SATA connections if any are free on your motherboard, or use a PCI card as in the link i posted above. Either way will work.
