Need Help With Wishbones Pain In The Backside

well after having infomation from the guys on here i started to change the lower arms(wishbones) on my 98 escort. i did the passener side no problem now on the drivers side the nut and bolt nearest the rear of the car will not budge, ive tried drilling through the nut to split it in half and failed. tried heating it up with a blow torch to crack it in half and failed, ive tried drilling up through the head of the bolt to try and get into the tread and then hit the bolt to crack it in two and get half out from underneath and the other half from the top and failed. does anyone know of any ideas to try as i need it back on the road by wednesday latest and ive been trying for a good few days now, or if there is any mobile mechanics in the northwest area ie warrington,st helens etc i live in newton-le-willows so if anyone would fancy coming down to have a look as ive been made redundant so cant really afford to pay a garage but may have to grit my teeth and go into savings fo it. thanks for any help Ian

have you got new nut and bolt to go back in

you could b in some real mess trying to sort this out on ur ass without correct equipment

all i can say is dont beast the head of the bolt to much try going through the nut

if worst comes to worst cut the arm (wishbone) off (will be Shite job to do) get that out the way then cut into the bolt and remaining part of the arm without damaging subframe

are the bolt heads rounded or just stupidly tight

if ther rounded you can buy some sockets wich you have to nock on with a hammer they are extreamly good as i have a set in work and have sorted out the exact same problem on my own car and many other cars they look like this if you have a machine mart neer you they should sell them

These are brilliant. I had the same problem with mine last year - I slipped and rounded the bolt head off on the drivers side and you can't get a socket to the nut on top without dropping the subframe. Bought a set of these - Stanley Proto for £25 - and the bolt was out in minutes.
