Stu Posted March 16, 2009 Share Posted March 16, 2009 It's the primary sensor that the ECU uses to control fuelling.. however if you unplug it the ECU defaults to a base map which uses the throttle position sensor (tps) as the primary measurement of load. It's about 90% as accurate. MAF's are used as they actually meter how much air IS flowing through the engine, not what SHOULD be flowing. This leads to finer control and better fuel economy.
