richard cash
i have just installed some of my ice and i am having major problems. The battery runs out after i have been driving for about 30mins, the car will drive ok, but if i turn it off and then try to start again it just wont have any of it. I then wired two batteries in parallel, putting one to the boot. i now have the standard one in htere and a battery out of a 2.5litre diesel, but still it just takes longer to drain the battery. I hav ebeen told that i may need to uprate my alternator to a 90amp one but these are £120 cheapest. i have a 70amp alternator in the car at the moment, its a 1.8lx MK5b, and my ice is as follows: 1 bose amp 600watt max (cheap purple amp)1 splx 15" subwoofer running off amp1 sony headunit2x vibe sa50 running of head unit do i need a larger alternator or could it be that my current one is broke?? in need of some urgent help as i cant drive with any music now
mr_b
i would not have though that i.c.e would run down the battery. get the battery checked and the alternator checked (halfords can do this for you for free)
escygti
thats not the ice mate the bat or the alternater is knackered. i have a halfords bat on mine and i have a dvd player x2 12inch subs plus amps and stuff and mine is fine. it sounds like the alternator to me because with the engine running it should be chargeing all the time not running flat. jayded1
I agree with the other posts, check your alternator and it might be worthwhile to measure the load (current draw) from your ICE when it's thumping. As long as you have the engine running the alternator (if it's not fubu) should be charging your battery. David
sime73
1 amp will not run your battery down
--RoY--
When you connected the wires to the battery did you make sure the + and - wires that goes from the battery to the car were put back on right and that they were tight. I did'nt put my + one back on tight once and the battery kept draining and that was because it was not getting recharges because of that.

dannyp2003
i had the same problem, i had a sony CdX-m760, 4 speakers and a Vibe 12" sub. It ran mine down seriously and i could not start my engine, all i did was shove a new 540 battery in and that sorted it out ok! then all my stuff got nicked!!!!!!! lol
djraks
I agree with all the others about the alternator but you may also find that if ur system is draining a lot of power from your battery you may need to install a power capacitor between your battery and amp. This will give you a temporary power source for a while so less power is drawn from your battery
