My lightly modded 1.6 stays cool as a fox:) even when i thrash it. Check all the simple things like water hose's and cooling for leeks. check fan, radiator. Keep checking ur water levels on ur car and see if it goes down fast of normal? If its getting really hot becaful it can damage the engine then u will be fcuked. Mk6 Si Ross
can you hear ur radiator fan come in when it gets quite/very hot?? if not maybe its ur radiator fan switch if these modernish engines still have them!?!!
John
yeah they still have rad fan switches on "modern engines" could be worth checking out the thermostat, if it's sticking shut then that could be the cause. of course in the extreme case u've always got the possibilty of a beloved head gasket being blown
southendboy
Yeah the fan still comes on, dont like the sound of the head gasket gone,

BlairM
could be worth checking out the thermostat, if it's sticking shut then that could be the cause. Just about to post a new thread, but spotted this one...my question is.. Where is the thermostat on a 1.4 EFi ?? Apparently, I've been told that it's knackered because the temp guage on the dash should point straight up at 12 o clock in the middle of where it says normal, whereas mine points to just below the n in normal Ta
