Charley
I have a set of mondeo alloys, 2 of them have 215/40/16 tyres. What I was wondering is could I get 2 tyres 205/45/16 and use them on the front of the car? If I can't do this I would be looking at getting 205/40/16 as they would be too wide and would give me no turning circle. The front is a lot lower than the rear at the moment and didn't know if this would help level the car out or whether I'm being totally stupid and it would completely adjust the way the car would drive? Any help would be appreciated
Stu
205/45/16 is the best tyre size for this application. You can run different tyres between the front and rear axles, but make sure tyres on each side of an individual axle are the same.
Charley
I forgot to say that the other 2 alloys don't have tyres on at the moment so am just looking to replace them. So there would be no problem with the handling of the car if I had 215/40/16 on the rear and 205/45/16 on the front of the car?
Stu
It's not ideal but you probably wouldn't notice.
Charley
So I would be better with using 205/40/16 on the front 2 until it comes to replacing them all and then do them all 204/45/
tom-mot
205/40/16 and 215/45/16 on the rear mate! Handle like Fcuk! Coming from a tyre fitter
Stu
205/40/16 and 215/45/16 on the rear mate! Handle like Fcuk! Coming from a tyre fitter So you put the tyre with less traction on the axle which requires the most friction due to it being FWD? I'd stick at being a tyre fitter! jaym_8
ive got 205/50/16 on the rear and 205/45/16 on the front notmuch of a difference in size, but no difference whatsoever handling wise, except i think one wheel is buckled at the mo:( but was fine before, handled quite well actually
