High engine revs..

Bit of a problem here...

 

Since fitting my mates engine and getting it to start it would jump right past 4k rpm n then try n idle but dies, well since then ive rebuilt the engine since we had no history on this engine, replaced cam belt etc, so all is good so we thought

 

problem now is, that it fired up first time right away but its still jumping right to 4k rpm and then dyin right away after approx 3 seconds @ 4k rpm..

 

Im thinking it could be a sensor problem but not to sure.. Nothing has been changed on this engine since we have had it i.e sensor wise.

 

Anyone got any suggestions ?

air leak comes to mind, not too hard to diagnose and costs nothing if its a wrong guess
