Pelles
the rear bearig is away on my focus, back left to be precise.... well i think its the bearing, the wheels churning when driving, the wheel wobbles once you shake it. So i desided to change it myself.....got the bearings, figured out how to do it, caliper mounts off, take the rear disk off, then take centre cap off, take the hub bolt off then the bearing should just pop out. as easy as that...well i got to the point where i was trying to get the caliper mount bolts off, one bolt was relatively easy to get off, but the other was ceased, it just wouldn't move! there was quite a wee bit of rust round this area, so i popped out and got a can of this stuff thats for ceased bolts that slackens them, you spray and leave for 10 minutes...but this didn't work. anyway, the bolts now rounded off it was that tight! Can this bolt be drilled? i popped into Kwik Fit, they wanted to change my entire hub at a cost of around £280!!! all that for just one fuckin bolt! anyone got any methods? (i tried hammering a size 12 socket onto it!(bolts a size 13)) Edited August 10, 2003 by Pelles
98gt
Can you get at the head of the bolt easily? If so try grinding it off with an angle grinder or at the very least square it off a bit so when you hammer on a smaller socket it will grip better. Pelles
you can't get a rachet in there so doubt you'ill get a grinder in there :/
