fao anybody with an aftermarket steering wheel

how the hell do you manage to keep the horn? ive fitted the ribbon but the steering wheel has gone stiff and is really hard to turn and if i dont fit it it tears al the insulation off the cables as you turn the wheel thanks chris

Do you mean the round bit with the greasy ring that the retractable brass rods touch?

Pics would help. My boss fitted fine, the ring goes back on & I had wires that slid through the boss one end on the ring & the other to the horn.

yeah i meant that part and it goes on fine just really stiff to turn once the boss is on and its 100% the correct escort boss

The ring goes on a certain way, you sure you have the indicator cancelation bit placed correct on the left, it can slide around with the ring iirc & get caught? Put the ring on without the wheel & see where I mean. Maybe is geting caught? Remember to do all this with the steering lock OFF, turn the key to the first position as the boss needs to clear this when fitting (little metal bit at the base of where the boss goes. Did you do it by placing the ring on first without the boss to check position like I said?

I think thats how I did it.

i tried that but it still wasnt quite right so i looked a little harder with the boss off and 1 pin hole narrowed as it went into the boss so just filed it a little
