John16v
i have a 10 inch sub and some 6*9's running off a 4 channel amp. the 6*9's are in a stealth shelf, however when i turn it up to near half volume it all distorts due to the bass from the sub hitting the 6*9's. any ideas on how to fix this?? john
John
somehow enclose the 6x9s? if they gotta stay in the shelf then really i can't think what other option there is, what position os your sub in? it's not pointing straight up at the 6x9s is it?? Mike C
take some of the power away from the 6x9s. I found the best way to start an install is by having all the power from the amp running 6x9s, but once u get subs etc, give them all the power, and the more power u give them, take more and more away from the 6x9s. so in the beginning, the 6x9s are the main part of ur install, but gradually take the emphasis of them, and eventually they'll just be there 2 add ambience 2 ur music. If the 6x9s are kicking out too much power with subs below them, they will distort as they are both using the same "air space"

John16v
was just thinking that sime. this is one of the reasons i put a post up ages ago asking if i could put the 6*9's in the rear doors. the 6*9's are amped up but only running half power whereas the sub runs full power.john
