MK 5 cabby speakers Question

i`m just about to change the speakers in my mk5 cabby and was wondering what do i change to update the speakers what size are the speakers are there any adapters for them i don`t wanna cut or change any door cards

standard speakers are 5 1/4 inch witha separate tweeter (or blank) depending on model, adaptors from autoleads are available to fit 6 1/2 inch speakers behind the standard grille location without modification although if running full range signal through them you will find the speaker surround takes a hammering.

 

The standard plastic brackets can be used to mount a decent 5 1/4 inch component set (the standard speaker is simply glued in) once the standard speaker is removed shave off the raised plastic outer which will allow you to fit the 5 1/4s of your choice.
