antcull Posted July 2, 2012 Share Posted July 2, 2012 Hi all my wipers seem to be drawing all the power from the battery on the way back down for some reason which in turn shuts the vans engine down, has amyone got any ideas? MCCORNY11 Posted July 2, 2012 Share Posted July 2, 2012 sounds like your van is using more electricity than your alternator can but back. could be your alternator not charging the battery at the normal rate! check the voltage at the battery terminals while running. your looking for 13.5 volts. antcull Posted July 2, 2012 Author Share Posted July 2, 2012 Alternator has been replaced and cheacked when the tow truck turned up earlyer, he even did a load test. it seams as though the wipers ar shorting or could it be the fuse box? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
antcull Posted July 3, 2012 Author Share Posted July 3, 2012 Well i checked all wire`s and linkage, nothin there to catch/clog on. Lubed linkage and still did it so I went to my local scrappy and got a motor and linkage for £15, came home and fitted it and now it all works. Stripped the old one down and behind the plug there is a black cap and inside there are 3 or 4 copper contacts, they are all badly worn and seem like they could come into contact so think this was the problem.
