Wont turn over

My dad is having starting issues with his 02 focus..

When trying to start the car it was doing nothing, no attempt of the starter motor turning...

Got a replacement off ebay which apparently was tried and tested before sale???

Anyway, just fitted it, it started first time, switched car off and tried again, then it started but we could hear the starter running with the engine so thinking solenoid is not working correctly?

Now it does nothing, can hear it getting power but again no attempt of the starter motor spinning..

Are we missing anything??

Im thinking this motor is knackered?

It took out a 30amp fuse (think it was F7) when we were trying to start it....

Fitted the replacement starter today that the seller sent out, and it still wont turn over...

Tried jump starting it incase the battery is flat and it blew the 30amp fuse again??

Using the battery off my car I bench tested the starter that we removed, and the motor spun...

So thinking its an electrical problem with the focus?

Any ideas?

had this exact problem on my escort, drove in my garage one day and the rubbish wouldn't start,(didn't touch anything) after replacing starter twice and checking numerous things and testing wires,2 weeks later it ended up being a faulty earth strap on the gearbox,(check all the engine/gearbox earths)

Good shout Marc, have read it could be the earth strap on gearbox, we had to take this one off when remove the bolt for the starter....
